Waking up in the morning, getting to class on time, and working out are a list of activities I desire, but do not have the energy to accomplish. Having a highly athletic peer to motivate me will help to accomplish these tasks. Michelle Barkema has spent her high school career involved in many activities; some include volleyball, basketball, track and softball. Now that she is out of high school and not involved in any sports, she has a goal to keep her athletic build and prevent weight gain. We met about three weeks ago studying in the DMACC library. Since then, we have hung out and discussed our exercise goals. Michelle has agreed work beside me to achieve our goals.
As I interviewed Michelle in her room, we discussed how we could both benefit from the endeavor. “I believe I will learn how hard it really is to accomplish a goal,” she stated. We discussed how she felt I would cope with such a change in my life style. “Although you are aware of your goal, it is going to be difficult to stick with,” Michelle expressed. I ask Michelle the difference she has felt since she started working out at the DMACC gym, “I have notice a dramatic difference in how I feel during the day and getting rest at night”. “Do you think it will have the same effect on me,” I asked? “Not at first, but if you stick to it you will notice a difference,” She replied. Michelle knows what types of food your body needs to keep it healthy. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day,” she added. We also discussed how we felt about energy drinks. “I have heard of some athletes dying because of the effects of energy drinks,” she explained. “Wow I never knew they could be so harmful,” I replied. Michelle has given me a lot of great advice during the interview.
I now have plenty of knowledge to begin my quest. I believe both me and Michelle will learn a lot during this thirty day process. Michelle has given me some great advice and motivation even before the quest has started. I can’t wait to see the motivation she will give me during the routine.
